Our favourite hotel ever! This is our 2nd visit for my partners Birthday, you cannot fault the place, the staff are amazing, the decor is breathtaking, so clever and the fact that this place is privately owned by a family is the reason there is so much attention to detail, they've thought of absolutely everything you could wish for. The rooms are insane, we had a pool villa, the dressing gowns are the plushest Ive ever worn, the bed linen smells amazing, the pools in the hotel, spa and roof are just beautiful, the spa treatments are outstanding, the breakfast has everything you could ask for, fresh pancakes made with all toppings fresh, a harpist played one morning and a violinist on another, the best omelettes ever, we absolutely love little Nancy the waitress. The Pina coladas are outstanding. If you are looking for a total reset, pure luxury and time to relax then this is the place. There is absolutely no need to leave the hotel for anything as there is nothing as nice. Can't wait to go back next year

So much has been said already about this stunning hotel. What more can I say?!? We booked through a third party booking agent - I know - but it offered a good discount on the standard rate. We were worried that a five star hotel might not mean a five star experience. All too often we are shown image in socials and the companies websites of perfect hotels - pictures clearly taken just after opening or similar - but we needed have been worried at all. The hotel is beautiful. I mean. Really lovely. The maintenance teams works very hard and are seen cleaning all the time. Everywhere was spotless. From the villas, to the spa - which can in lesser establishments - smells. But it was perfect. The service - the staff were exemplary - willing to help and assist if they can. The food choices were quite rich but we wanted for nothing. Some may be put off the lack of restaurant choice from day to day but this didn’t bother us. Some areas highlight to make extra special would be hand towels in the restrooms, more snacks by the pool (gratis) and perhaps sunglasses cleaning by the pool too. Oh and a shop - I like spending money - a shop selling high end items for men and women would have been appreciated. We stayed in a river suite 2 bed - villa 5 - and for us was just perfect. Don’t hesitate - if you like adult only hotels, which offer great service, nice food in a serene setting - this could be for you!

From the moment I arrived, ( this is my second visit) Royal River proved itself to be more than just a hotel; it’s an experience enriched by its Spanish roots, and yet it would more than hold its own if you lifted it and placed it on a Caribbean island. The service is exceptional at every touchpoint. A special mention must go to Lydia, Director who went above and beyond to help retrieve my wallet after it fell out at airport security; a level of care I’ve never experienced anywhere else. Daniella,manager, is simply excellent, leading a team where every member goes out of their way to make you feel both welcomed and valued. The breakfast is without doubt the best I’ve had anywhere in the world, with an extraordinary selection that sets the tone for the day. Dining here becomes something personal, the staff feel like friends, most especially Nancy — mi amore siempre. Royal River is more than luxury; it’s warmth, hospitality, and excellence woven together. Truly unforgettable.

“Stunning view, restaurant staff need personable skills”

Recommended to try here by friends. Although the venue and views are stunning, the restaurant staff were quite unfriendly Had to ask four times for a wine top up, it wasn’t that busy. Don’t get a friendly vibe at all which was a shame. Food was good so that was something.
