At the time of writing this, I am awaiting the transfer to the airport. Yes, home time. Reading some of the reviews here really suprise me. Some people always focus on the negative. Open your eyes people. This hotel is definitely 5 star, as soon as you arrive, it has a wow factor. The character and furnishings are fantastic quality. The ambience amazing, the rooms are lovely, ok, we had a third floor room overlooking the resort. But all the staff are very helpful, friendly, and attentive. They go out of there way to make your holiday experience special. Will definitely be coming back, negative people, enjoy it for what it is, a lovely hotel experience

This was our third stay at the Baobab and, overall, we had another enjoyable holiday. It remains a lovely hotel with beautiful surroundings, friendly staff, and plenty to recommend it. However, compared with our previous visits, we couldn't help but notice that some aspects have declined over time. It's still a great place to stay, but it doesn't quite feel like the exceptional hotel it once was (and don't get me started on the towel drama 😂). Firstly, check-in was smooth as always, and the staff were welcoming and helpful throughout our stay. A special mention goes to Guest Relations, who were fantastic in helping me arrange both a trip and a birthday package with ease. Our room was as expected, although it was looking a little more tired than on previous visits. One evening we returned to find water all over the floor, dripping from the ceiling after using the air conditioning. This happened around 10:30pm, and after trying unsuccessfully to call reception, I had to walk there to report it. Thankfully, the issue was dealt with quickly, and an engineer fixed the problem promptly. Unfortunately, the ceiling developed mould patches for the remainder of our stay as a result of the leak. The biggest disappointment this year was the food. Compared with previous visits, we noticed a definite decline in both the variety and quality. The desserts looked beautiful but were often lacking in flavour, and the buffet choices were very repetitive from one evening to the next. We found ourselves getting bored with the selection and, despite being on a full-board package, chose to eat out on several occasions. Now, onto the towel drama… This year, the sunbed reserving was completely out of hand. Towels were being placed on beds at silly o'clock in the morning, often with nobody returning to use them until hours later. The hotel states that unattended towels will be removed after 35 minutes, but we didn't see this rule enforced until the end of our stay, when disagreements over sunbeds had already become common and Guest Relations had to step in. I think if the hotel had enforced the policy consistently from the start, people wouldn't have taken advantage of the situation and the whole sunbed madness could have been avoided. I completely understand that large families, especially those with young children, want shaded spots together. However, the majority of people reserving beds for hours without using them were simply being selfish. We actually loved seeing the lifeguards finally enforcing the rules and bagging up towels that had clearly been left to reserve beds with no intention of using them until midday or later. It was refreshing to see, and hopefully it's something the hotel continues to do. It was just a shame that this approach wasn't taken from the beginning of the week. Overall, we still had a lovely holiday and would happily return, as the Baobab remains a beautiful hotel with wonderful staff. We just hope the management can address some of these issues and restore the standards that made us fall in love with the hotel in the first place.

This is not a 5* hotel. I had read the reviews but against my better judgement decided to ignore and go ahead. What’s good? The hotel has a range of pools and the staff are mostly friendly. This is not a 5* hotel. I had read the reviews but against my better judgement decided to ignore and go ahead. What’s good? The hotel has a range of pools and the staff are mostly friendly. There is some activities put on but these are much more suitable for younger children. Breakfast was good. The design as you enter is nice. It somewhat heightens expectations! The room is spacious and comfortable but needs maintenance (see below). What needs improving? No tea or coffee in room. 5 star??? Really? Black mould in bathroom and damp in room. I’ve seen this on multiple reviews too so guessing it’s a problem that needs care for the hotel overall. Tiles are cracked around the pool. Like seriously cracked and missing - kids hurting themselves. Limited evidence of pool cleaning. The full board option is poor - the food is limited and in some parts not hygienic such as the non existent ice cream self serve filtration system for example that meant the serving spoon isn’t getting cleaned as it’s just being emptied into the same bowl of water - big no no and pretty gross. The hotel needs a glow up in many places it looks tired! The sister hotel the costa Meloneras is very different and I would stay here instead if I were to return. The activities for older kids were very limited and poor compared to other 5* hotels I have stayed at. Overall, the stay was fine but this is not a 5* hotel as the reviews suggest. I won’t return.
