We have just finished our holiday here at sol katmandu. This place is amazing for children even my 12 year old enjoyed herself here. Check in was easy enough and quick, we weren't told that the key for our room is actually in our wristband but soon figured it out, we arrived at about 8.30pm which the restaurant was still open so we were able to get some food after dropping off our cases. Our rooms were the katmandu suites which held 2 adults and one child, we were a group of 6 with 2 adults and one child in each room, we actually emailed the hotel prior to coming and asked possibly to be as close to each other as possible, they managed to actually put us next door to each other with an adjoining door which was great and so much easier passing things to each other! Rooms are small and no room for suitcases but we made it work and o ly ever sleep in there anyway. Breakfast is served 8-10am Lunch is 1-3pm at the restaurant plus a snack bar near the pool Dinner 6.30-10pm I can't really understand the comments about food as we really enjoyed every meal we had there was something different every single night and some of the same things for very picky eaters like my son, a wide range of everything and sometimes the lunch meals were better than the dinner meals, only thing one on our last day we didn't leave until 7pm and was only aloud to have breakfast in the restaurant everything else had to be from the snack bar. There are two main pools, a baby pool and a bigger pool, no inflatables aloud other than the small donuts and small surfboard type inflatables. Every day we have been here there have been two lifeguards working at once and the pool was only closed once for an accident in the pool and that was the last day, swim nappies are provided by the lifeguards as well which I think is a bonus. No food allowed around the pool deck, only at the tables which is good. Always easy to get a sunbed and a parasol and there is a man helping find you some sunbeds if you are struggling, we never managed to get near the pools with people reserving the beds but that didn't bother us. There is also a token system for drinks you get one token per person to swap for a drink you then take that cup back to either get another drink or you can get your token back if you don't want another drink, we actually brought some cups with us after reading reviews we only really used these now and again for soft drinks around the pool. There is also the splash park on site and a few 4D rides, these were really good and we visited the upside down house a few times, I do recommend visiting these as soon as they open at 10am as they do get very busy in an afternoon and on a weekend as they are open to the public to book. Always nice to go in there to cool down as well as we have come while temperatures were hitting 35° and the pools were actually warm! So the aircon really helped in the rooms as well. There is also a soft play area that has air con and they are at certain times I let my 12year and 7 year old go there for an hour and left them there, they however didn't enjoy that much as they said it was a little bit too small for them. We also visited western water park and the pirates adventure which I do recommend booking if able to as they are both amazing! I can't really comment on the entertainment as we stayed inside by the bar on a few nights and then went out to watch the world cup on others (tom browns is brilliant for drinks and food) there were singers inside next to the bar which all seemed good. We did however join in the foam party on the Friday which was brilliant for the kids. Daytime activities were a bit basic only really saw them doing water polo, however I do think they are more focused on the kids club which we didn't use but they did look busy all the time. We had a brilliant time here the only cons I would say are: Certain people do NOT know how to queue lots of people pushing in at meals times and in lifts etc but that isn't the hotels vault. Also when checking out we were getting our suitcases out of the room at 11.58 (check out 12pm) and the door shut behind us and it actually locked us out and they had shut off our wristbands luckily my family in the other room was in theirs just finishing off and the adjoining door was open or else we wouldn't have been able to get out last bits out. A great 10 night stay would definitely recommend and would come again!
