Absolutely loved staying at this hotel, from the minute we arrived we were welcomed professionaly. Our room block 2,room 2026 was a fairly good size and cleanliness 10 out of 10, cleaned every day with change of fresh towels. The atmosphere within complex was very relaxing and no stress whatsoever, waiters/waitresses 10 out 10 again for service within restaurants and bars nothing was ever a problem, even served me smirnoff vodka when I asked. The food was amazing with ample choice and was regularly inspected by environmental whilst we were there. We ate inside to avoid the flies outside, always used the hand sanitiser which are installed all over complex, plenty tongs to handle foods and were changed regularly throughout breakfast, lunch and dinner. We avoided the swim up pool bar as too many people around the area of that pool and drinks being spilled and it's plastic tumblers, we took our own containers to refill water which btw is bottled water that gets poured into the machine and they make the ice with bottled water. Evening entertainment was excellent, however we liked to sit near reception area as comfy chairs and preferredto be on our own....The coffee bar i loved as the cappacinos are amazing, and mainly served by cheerful, smiler Valida (think her name was) she is a credit to the hotel 👌 The beach was a great place to sunbathe peacefully with plenty loungers to chose from, I loved how the dogs are treated well that live on the beach, Don't be afraid to book lemon sharks with the locals at the beach they are great guys and the service was excellent from Horlla tours and we used Tui to book zip line. We will definitely return to this hotel irrespective of all the scare mongering about food poison you just have to be safe and use hygiene properly, I.e don't pick food with your fingers, drink bottled water, use toilet facilities instead of urinating in the swim up pool bar 😡 Santa Maria is about 5 euros from hotel and we ignored the idiots that tried to get you to go to their mums store etc to buy pure rubbish (tip is to put a watch over your wrist band so they don't know what hotel your from) they try and say they work in your hotel...the beaches lovely at Santa Maria. We took advantage of the spa and gym, the intense massage was the best ive ever had, also got my nails done although I had to return next day as they chipped and they went out their way to redo them by a more professional beautician and they are still going strong after being home for a week now. Our first week the sunshine was very warm with little wind, however second week was cloudy, windy, but still warm. Thank you to all the hard working staff and Tui reps for making our holiday a memory to cherish forever and cannot wait to return ...😍

“Good in May”

A lovely resort in barren dirt/dusty environment. Nice program of things to do. In May, loungechairs and shade always available. Lovely beach. Food looks great and, I am told,is the good end of bulk resort food (bespoke restaurant it ain't). We are considering a repeat visit next year.

Went to this hotel as our normal hotel was been renovated. Room was spotless and cleaned daily, had lovely balcony but it faced the path to beach full of tour companies and several occasions where there were shouting and arguing amongst themselves which was quite off putting, alot of police presence in our 2nd week. Pool was lovely and staff at pool bar were great and friendly. Bar in main reception was slow service on morning/afternoon and not the friendliest but the evening staff were a bit better. Staff in restaurants were pleasant but on occasions seemed under staffed. Food was good and always plenty of choice Hygiene from some guests was poor and picking up food with fingers and licking ice cream from the spoon then re dipping (behaviour more expected from kids not adults). We did meet some lovely people and had a relaxing holiday despite the odd negatives

“This is sold as 5 star which it is not unfortunately”

We arrived the early part of this month having used RIU all over the globe from Costa Rica to Morocco the canaries to Turkey and this unfortunately was not what I expected when booking 5 star which it is not. On arrival we were told we have been upgraded to what I not sure. First impressions count. In the room opened the draw rotten fruit. Telly off the wall. No kettle no coffee. Toilet leaking and one socket hanging out of the wall. Most things were addressed the following day as we arrived around ten in the evening. That said five attempts to fix the toilet at one point two guys trying to sort it finally they gave up, so resulted in ear plugs as no offer of room replacement. We play golf and a few trips that started before 09.00 when you get back around lunch time no towels available and this was a common theme throughout the time there.and the pool guy just shrugged his shoulders and was no help what so ever. Generally the staff are very pleasant and helpful the hotel is very tired, the food plentiful but very plain. We did not get to use the themed restaurants as they were overbooked. It is and island and they do have to import all the food. In Santa Maria you will get pestered by guys trying to sell you stuff as long as your firm the leave you alone. Lemon sharks good trip, island tour not for me highlight lunch but that was down to our tour guide more interested in chatting to his mates than doing his job. Would I visit again no chance.
