Istanbul and Malta by plane

Travelling to Istanbul, capital of three empires, and Malta, a Mediterranean island with a tremendously rich history, is a must

Istanbul is one of the world's most-visited cities. Having been the capital of three empires - Roman, Byzantine and Ottoman - it's a place that no traveller should let pass them by. Let the history of the city formerly known as Constantinople and its natural landscapes, such as the Golden Horn and the Bosphorus, captivate you.

And then travel to Malta, a very fashionable destination among European tourists owing to its diverse scenery and the chance to take part in a myriad of different activities. It's like taking a step back in time, with classic buildings and towns that look as though they belong in a different dimension. While it's a small island, it boasts a great many points of interest for tourists, some of which enjoy World Heritage status. That, and the fact that it is the perfect place to relax and spend a beautiful holiday, is why we feel you should consider it as a potential destination for your next trip.

Important remarks

- Istanbul has an excellent multimodal transport network, with buses, minibuses, metrobus, underground trains, trams, funiculars, cable cars, ferries and taxis. Most means of transport are interconnected, which is great for hopping on and off. The best idea is to buy the rechargeable Istanbulkart card for public transport, with a range of multi-trip options. It's valid for up to five people and includes interesting discounts. There are numerous recharging points and the cost per trip is very low.

- The Grand Bazaar and the Egyptian Bazaar will remain closed on religious holidays, Sundays and national holidays. Please consult.

- Triple rooms in Europe are generally rooms with twin beds or a double, in which a folding bed is installed to accommodate the third person. Due to the inconvenience this causes, we advise against using this option as far the possible.

- A credit card is considered a guarantee, so sometimes you will need one for check-in at hotels.

- Hotels usually have cots available. Otherwise, babies will have to share a bed with an adult.

- Consult the necessary documentation to enter the destinations visited and for transit in the countries where air stopovers are made.
