A cultural melting pot reflected in its highland markets, its streets and especially its churches, which can be truly appreciated in places like Tzutuhil de Santiago or Chichicastenango. As well as discovering the ancestral roots of the Maya civilisation in the magical site of Tikal, surrounded by breathtaking nature and cities from the colonial era, such as La Antigua, which will take us back in time. All dotted with beautiful landscapes and lush nature such as Lake Atitlán, Rio Dulce or the tropical forests of Petén.

Day 1: Departure with destination Guatemala City. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

Guatemala - Chichicastenango - Lake Atitlán

Day 2: Breakfast. For the morning departure to the Guatemalan highlands, heading for the village of Chichicastenango, where every Thursday and Sunday the most famous indigenous market of the region is held, one of the most colourful in Latin America. During the visit, you will have the opportunity to learn from local women how corn tortillas, a staple food in Guatemala, are made. After the visit, we depart for Lake Atitlán. A spectacular landscape shaped by the beautiful blue-water lake, framed by three imposing volcanoes. Arrival at hotel. Accommodation.

Lake Atitlán - San Juan La Laguna - Santiago Atitlán - Lake Atitlán

Day 3: Breakfast. Today, we will board a boat for a visit to two of the twelve villages that circle this beautiful lake. Meet the Tzutuhil people of San Juan La Laguna, known for the unique way its inhabitants live in harmony with nature and culture. We will continue on to Santiago Atitlán, a village populated by indigenous Tzutuhiles who make a living from fishing and handicrafts, although they are better known as worshippers of a Mayan-Catholic deity they call Maximón. Lake Atitlán - Iximché - La Antigua

Day 4: Breakfast. We will then travel on to La Antigua. On the way, we'll stop at the archaeological site of Iximché, the ancient capital of the Kaqchikel kingdom. On arrival in La Antigua, we will orientation visit this colonial city classified as a World Heritage Site. We will visit the Cathedral, La Merced Church, the Central Square and its main streets and monuments. Accommodation.

La Antigua - Copán

Day 6: Breakfast and departure to cross the border into Honduras to visit Copán. This is one of the most important archaeological centres of the ancient Mayan civilisation. Nowadays, it preserves significant stelae, buildings, pyramids, ball courts and burial sites, unique in the Mayan world. Overnight stay in Copan.

Copán - Quiriguá - Izabal

Day 7: After breakfast, departure from Copán to the Guatemalan Caribbean. Along the way, we will visit the archaeological centre of Quiriguá, with some of the best stelae erected by the Mayas. During the afternoon, we will arrive in the Izabal area, one of the natural wonders of Guatemala. Accommodation.

Izabal - Livingston - Rio Dulce - Petén

Day 8: Breakfast. In the morning, a boat trip on the Río Dulce, a place of outstanding ecological wealth. We will pay a visit to the Garifuna village of Livingston. The tour will take us to the tourist site of Cayo Quemado, where, together with the local community, we will enjoy a gastronomic workshop, preparing a delicious coconut fish ceviche. After lunch, we will continue on our boat ride until we reach the village of Río Dulce, where our transport will be waiting for us to continue our trip to the Petén jungle. Accommodation.

Day 9: Breakfast. Throughout the day, a visit to the impressive settlement of Tikal, a treasure of classical Mayan culture. A picnic lunch inside the archaeological site. In the afternoon, we will transfer to Flores airport for departure to the country's capital. Arrival and transfer to the hotel. Accommodation.

Viaje muy interesante para conocer Guatemala en sus diferentes zonas tan diversas entre sí, combinando muy bien naturaleza e historia. El inconveniente es que se hace muy rápidamente, disfrutando muy poco tiempo de cada zona. Según nuestra particular experiencia, sugeriría ampliar por lo menos la estancia en Livingston, para poder disfrutar un día por lo menos de las playas del Caribe.

Mala experiencia en los vuelos escogidos por mí, en Iberia, en ambas direcciones. El paquete vacacional, perfecto. Muy buena calidad de los hoteles (Tipo C), excelentes guías y trato en Guatemala. La operadora en destino, perfecta. En cuanto a las visitas, excelente elección, no podría visualizar un paquete en Guatemala sin Antigua, Tikal y Copán (Honduras), todos ellos me parecen imprescindibles.
