Just returned from a 10 day break at the Hovima Santa Maria 2 adults and a 12 year old , we did AI which wasn’t the worst, breakfast was the best meal of the day , followed by lunch which you could find something to eat , evening meal was well presented but did become a bit repetitive, and found ourselves eating from the children’s corner which had pizza and ravioli etc , desserts were good and loads of choice .We had no air in in our room which I would not do again I struggled every night to sleep , they did supply a tall fan but it didn’t make a lot of difference, I let my son use it at the far end of the room so he could get a better sleep.I have stayed at this hotel before and it is in a great location , if I did use it again I would definitely have air con in my room . Finally the staff which I should have mentioned in the first sentence the go above and beyond they work tirelessly from cleaning team who were great , the restaurant staff were amazing, the bar staff again amazing and a big shout out to the children’s team who were fabulous the whole team are a credit to this hotel and I would like to thank them for looking after us on this occasion , all in all it was a pleasant stay and may stay again in the future.

“Mixed feelings”

This hotel has a lot going for it, it's in an ideal position, the staff are very helpful and the breakfasts are great. However the deal breaker is a lack of AC in the rooms which make them unbearable especially at night.

Travelled right at the start of November 2 adults, 4 kids. We had 2 rooms... 1 was a half refurbished one, the other not. Travelled right at the start of November 2 adults, 4 kids. We had 2 rooms... 1 was a half refurbished one, the other not. Room 1 (refurbished) - still had the old lock on which didnt work great, tv had not been set up correctly as of yet and unbelievably it doesnt look like they are installing aircon as all we had was a ceiling fan. The plus points were it was very clean and looked relatively modern, the bed was comfortable and big. Room 2 (not refurbished) - very old fashioned, no aircon other than a £15 home bargains free standing thing that was a waste of time. The room was unbearably hot!! We were in 133 and 137. The rooms looked out onto the street and at night there is a bar on the lower walk on the other side of the street where the music is way too loud. You could hear that until 2am every morning. Food was "ok" 2 of us are not fussy, we gave everything a try and enjoyed most. The other 4 not so much but still always found soemthing to actually eat. We ate out 3 times whilst there. Pool is good. Its shallow for smaller kids and deep enough for adults too. Its also heated and heated well. We always got a sunbed but people do literally queue up at opening times, can only imagine what this is like during summer holidays. Entertainment. This was the biggest let down. Not much going on around pool in the day (maybe due to time of year) and night time not alot on. Kids club at 8, singer at 9, done before 10... All in all, for the price it was ok. Ive stayed in many better hotels in the area but also a few worse.

The hotel is nice and clean and lovely on appearance, rooms are great for appliances, beds are comfy and extra pillows and blankets, although blankets were removed from beds and not replaced. Food is minimal with little option and we struggled to enjoy food, lots deep fried, and not very appealing, im not even a fussy eater. You have to pay for drinks, and put them on a tab, to pay once bill goes over €100, but we wasn't told this. Until they blocked our room key, Reception staff were rude and not accommodating or polite. Activities during day were poor and minimal, no idea where kids activities took place and nobody came to ask kids to join in. Drinks and ice-Creams are expensive in hotel, so we bought from local shop. Disappointed and will not recommend this hotel.
