I would like to extend my sincere thanks and appreciation to Serenity Fun City Hotel for the wonderful experience I had during my stay. The main restaurant was outstanding, with special thanks to Chef Yasser and Chef Shaaban for the delicious, high-quality, and beautifully varied food. Every meal was truly amazing. I would also like to thank the waiters Ahmed and Hindi for their excellent service, professionalism, and warm attitude. Special appreciation goes to Mr. Mohamed, who represents the true meaning of hospitality, courtesy, and kindness. A heartfelt thank you as well to the Housekeeping team, especially Mr. Hussein, whose professionalism, manners, and attention to detail were exceptional. There are truly no words to describe his excellent ethics and outstanding service. The rooms were beautiful, the hospitality was outstanding, the food was incredible, and all services were perfectly available. The aqua park, swimming pools, and overall facilities made the stay even more enjoyable. It was a truly memorable experience, and I highly recommend Serenity Fun City Hotel.

We have just returned from a lovely week at Serenity Alma. It's worth mentioning that whilst this is rated a 5 star luxury Egyptian Hotel it would likely be a good 3/4 star by European standards. That's generally how we view accommodation when booking for Egypt and it's always worth baring this in mind when managing expectations. Upon arrival, later in the evening, the grounds and the hotel had the usual wow factor - well lit and grand looking. We were happy to receive what appeared, from the online pictures, to be an updated room. The following day it was clear the room needed some much needed tlc, particularly in the bathroom. The whole thing needed regrouting, tiles chipped, rusty taps, patchy ceiling and a whole host of cosmetic uplifting. That being said, everything worked and the shower was always hot and powerful. Walking through the building and the grounds during the day it was evident that a large amount of maintenance and tlc was needed. There were some works going on at the main pool at the time but the overall building needs updating. The staff as a whole were great, the service was also good, exceptional if you tipped and the food we found to be good, especially the Al a carte restaurants which were surprisingly good. We ate at the Asian, Mexican and the Indian, each were good but the Indian really stood out as being the most authentic. The drinks offering was awful, the local lager wasn't great and the cocktails were of the lowest quality. The coffee shop by the reception area was good, however we only managed to get served there once in 7 days. It was mostly staff less and on one occasion I stood at the counter whilst the server sat there on his phone, completely ignoring me. The waterpark proved a hit for both adults and children with the food offering near the park being good. I really enjoyed the music by the waterpark, particularly when they played it louder as it really helped add to the fun of the area. The boat trip sales men need to be removed from the hotel or have their behaviour monitored as they were so rude and uncomfortably pushy. After telling the same man no repeatedly, I found myself in an almost confrontational situation where I had to lose my temper in order for him to leave me and my family alone. Not what I expect, especially when on holiday. Entertainment staff are great, full of energy and enjoy engaging with guests. What I would say is they can be a little intrusive of your time and perhaps this is due to their young age and not reading social cues. An example was one evening myself and my husband were enjoying a rare moment on our own whilst our children played snooker and for the entirety of that time one of the entertainers sat with us. It's s lovely to chat and engage, however the timing was wrong, the small talk was painfully drawn out and it became a little awkward. One night in the space of less than 30 minutes we were approached by 4 entertainers, the one Italian/British lady was great she had a quick chat, offered us tombola tickets, let us know what was on that evening and let us carry on with our night. Within less than a minute the German lady came over to us, followed by others who offered us the same tickets, except when we declined they asked why? It really felt like they were told to go out and really push the tickets to the point where it felt awkward declining. Not great but it was evident from their text messages that this was management telling them to go out and push the ticket sales. Not great! Whilst on the topic of management I wish to point out an incident at the buffet restaurant. One day we were greeted by our usual waiter who was always very good at his job. We had a quick chat and he asked us what we'd like to drink as he did every time we saw him without fail. When he was collecting our drinks I placed a tip on the table for my son to pass to him as we really wanted to show our appreciation for his service everyday up until then. As soon as the cash was visible on the table other waiters snapped into action and before we knew it they had brought us drinks along with our usual waiter, nevertheless my son passed on the tip to our usual waiter and we gestured to thank him. Within no time at all he was reprimanded by another waiter, then a second then a manager, all in front of us guests in the middle of the buffet restaurant. It turned out that we had sat at a table next to our usual seats and our usual waiter shouldn't have been serving us and as we tipped him at the same time it caused abit if a backlash. First and foremost this gentleman was greeting us because he knew us, he served us our drinks out of courtesy and I tipped him based on his exceptional service in the days prior. This level of service should be encouraged not reprimanded. Secondly, to pull a member of staff and give him a telling off in front of guests and colleagues is hugely unprofessional and inappropriate. He may not have been working the area that we sat in that day but he did what was the most courteous for a group of guests he'd built a relationship with. His level of service and interpersonal skills should be commended not punished! Shame on management! We used the Spa during our stay booking a 3 massage package. This proved exceptional value and the massages were very good, although I struggled to desipher any difference in techniques as all 3 felt the same but good massages nevertheless. All in all a good week away in the sun. We spent valuable time together as a family in a mostly comfortable setting. I think the overall experience could be elevated with a few tweeks from management and abit of investment in updating rooms etc. We wouldn't return as the area is too remote for us and as much as we didn't think this would particularly matter when we booked, the reality was we really missed having the ability to walk out of the hotel and explore.
